IPC International, Inc. is looking to hire a Standards Development Manager. The Standards Development Manager leads standards development activities for materials for printed boards, printed board assemblies, additive manufacturing and coatings.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the standard development projects that promote best practices for production and acceptance of printed board materials, including processes, fabrication, equipment and related services.
- Work with committee volunteers and subject matter experts to develop industry standards utilizing approved procedures, white papers and other documentation to be used for production and acceptance of printed boards, printed board assemblies, additive manufacturing and coatings, and make recommendations for new publications and projects.
- Conduct ongoing standards development work from concept to publication, interfacing with committee members and leaders, working with committee leaders, updating documentation based on committee input, preparing documentation for publication and recommend changes as needed for improvement on an international level.
- Provide technical support and communication to IPC Members and IPC Staff regarding interpretation of standards and applications of technology.
- Manage online technical committee resource tools, including committee pages in standard development site.
- Collaborate with suppliers in the development of software tools and round robin testing used in conjunction with standards.
- Participate in development of related materials to supplement standards such as trade magazine articles regarding standards and technology and webpages.
Requirements
- Must have knowledge and experience with printed board materials.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years of work experience in electronics or related field.
- 3 years of project management related experience preferred.
- Strong skills in record-keeping for traceability and organization are a must along with good judgment and professional integrity.

Responsibilities:
Identify and collaborate with SMEs – 25%
Locate and vet subject matter experts in the electronics manufacturing industry. Coordinate with SMEs to gather relevant information and insights for course content. Ensure SME contributions are accurate, current, and aligned with course objectives.
Media Assessment and Procurement – 25%
Edit and manipulate photographs and illustrations that align with the stated learning objectives and best practices in instructional design. Edit raw video footage into cohesive and visually appealing videos that align with the stated learning objectives and best practices in instructional design.
Storyboard Review and Editing – 50%
Review and edit course storyboards for accuracy, clarity, and comprehensibility. Ensure instructional content aligns with learning objectives and industry standards. Collaborate with instructional designers to improve and refine storyboards as needed.
Requirements
- Some college preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience working in the electronics manufacturing industry.
- At least 3 years of experience as an instructional, technical, or explanatory writer and creating instructional content according to best practices in instructional design.

The Certification Test Development Specialist assists in the completion of the Department’s work and projects in a timely manner. Interacts professionally and cooperatively with other IPC departments and staff members and with organizations and individuals outside the Association. This position will assist operational examination development activities related to psychometrics, interactions with SMEs, item development and review workshops, examination building, quality assurance of exams. Identifying and communicating defects in processes and working toward continual improvement of the Examination Development process.
Responsibilities
Examination Development – 40%
- With the assistance of the Psychometrician produce technical documentation related to items, test, and program performance.
- Design, construct, and test IPC examinations; assure accuracy and quality of finished product.
- Troubleshoot software and operational problems.
- Oversee the formation and growth of Certification Committees
- Oversee the entire Item Writing Development process with the respective Certification Committees with assistance from the Psychometrician.
Examination Maintenance – 40%
- Quality Assurance Validation for Certification content
- Review Certification exams for consistency with source files
- Document and escalate deviations in client exams with source files
- Audit tests for typographical errors, formatting errors, internal inconsistencies, and other quality problems, and clearly communicate quality issues.
- Oversee the entire Item Review process with the with the respective Certification Committees with assistance from the Psychometrician.
Content Database Management – 20%
- Review and manage current content for typographical errors, formatting errors, internal inconsistencies, and other quality problems, and clearly communicate quality issues.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- With the assistance of the Psychometrician produce technical documentation related to item, test, and program performance specific to current system infrastructure.
Requirements
- Some college preferred.
- 3 years’ experience managing all aspects of Item Writing Workshops and Item Review Committees.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously, often under time constraints.
- Excellent proofreading, language, and editing skills.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and thoroughly.
- Attention to detail is imperative; Must be organized, accurate, and quality conscious.
- Must be honest and maintain high-level ethical behavior, and maintain data confidentiality and security.
- Experience in areas of forecasting and prioritizing assigned tasks strongly preferred.
- Flexibility related to workflow and changing priorities required.
- Able to follow directions, coordinate multiple projects, including producing high quality work under tight deadlines, and work independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong written/oral communication skills required. Comfort with email and telephone/video communications is essential to effectively interact with staff, contractors and committee members virtually. Must be able to work with people from various knowledge levels, personalities, economic and cultural backgrounds.
